Please read all pattern instructions before starting. All seams should be sewn at a quarter inch. I apologize for the lack of photos.
For this project you will need three coordinating fabrics. You will need to be able to cut out these dimensions out of the fabrics you choose:
Outside: 5.5X13.5 inches
Lining: 5.5X13.5 inches
Crayon Pocket: 5.5X13.5 inches
You will also need a 26 inch ribbon and coordinating thread. To complete this project you will need your usual sewing supplies including an iron and pins.
1. Start by cutting the three fabrics: Outside, lining, and crayon pocket. Use the dimensions listed above.
2. Fold the crayon pocket fabric wrong sides together ‘hot dog’ style. Iron to make the crease solid. Stitch straight along the fold at ¼ inch from the edge. (This will give it a finished look).
3. Place the folded crayon pocket on the right side of the lining. Pin to secure. Starting at either end make the crayon slots by sewing from the top to the bottom of the crayon pocket about every inch. Remember to do a reverse stitch at the top of each slot.
4. Now place the right side of the outside fabric to the right side of the prepared lining. Fold the ribbon in two. Tuck the ribbon between the two fabrics leaving only the crease of the ribbon peaking out. Pin ribbon to two fabrics. Pin the rest of the project as needed and starting at the center bottom and sew around the perimeter taking care not to sew the excess ribbon (only the bend) AND stopping 4” before the starting point.
5. Turn right side out. Push out the corners carefully and iron.
6. Finish your project by sewing one last time around the perimeter very close to the edge, in doing so you will close up the hole and give the crayon holder a finished look.
Fill with crayons (which on currently on sale at Wal-Mart for 25 cents), roll, and tie.

(Note from Carmen....In the past I have made up several of these Crayon Holders at a time to keep them on hand for birthday presents. I also like to carry them in my purse to restaurants, and in our church bag.)

Cute pic of the two blndies. And thanks for the instructions for the crayon holder. It is a little confusing to read but I think once the fabrics are in front of me it should make more sense. I will have to try it soon!
Thanks,
Tammee
