San Juan Islands--Gem of the Northwest

Ben and I celebrated our ten year wedding anniversary on July 23rd. We both enjoyed a much anticipated trip (minus Benson and Luther) to the San Juan Islands. The San Juan Islands are located north of Seattle. Our trip was a week long and we really enjoyed ourselves. The islands were breathtaking.

On our way there we spent a day in Seattle.

Pike St. Market has a lot to see...

Seattle skyline, and me resting my feet.

On to the San Juan Islands. The only way to get there is by boat or air. Here we are on the ferry.

Once on the islands we visited many interesting sites. There was the most beautiful lavender farm...serving culinary treats.

We were lucky and saw several 'pods' of killer whales (orcas). The cabins we stayed at where very close to the water and we were able to hear and see the whales daily from our yard.

Making friends with the wildlife...

On top of Mt. Constitution, the highest point in the islands.

Traveling inside the ferry.

Cascade Falls on Orcas Island, and me resting my feet again.

Lots of yummy food at a variety of local eateries.

Sunset from our cabin...
